Treatments
Osteopathy is a safe and effective form of manual therapy that aims to diagnose and treat a wide range of health conditions. An Osteopath uses specific joint and soft tissue manipulation based on the patient’s medical history, lifestyle, posture analysis, orthopedic testing, and any necessary diagnostic imaging.
Targeting the bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and connective tissues; an Osteopath aims to improve the musculoskeletal function and structure, and therefore a person’s general wellbeing.
"MASTERS METHOD"
Masters Osteopaths have devised our own unique treatment approach “Masters Method” that utilizes a whole body approach; implementing massage, stretching, joint mobility techniques, specialized specific joint manipulation, exercise prescription and lifestyle and dietary advice to aid:
Pain relief
Joint mobility
Muscle tension
Blood supply to the various tissues that make up the body
Injury rehabilitation
Mindfullness and wellbeing
OSTEOPATHY FOR EVERYONE
We believe that Osteopathy is for everyone.
We tailor our treatments to suit the patient, and aim to create a general state of wellbeing within the patient…not just tunnel-vision pain chasing.
Typically a person may seek help from an Osteopath with conditions such as:
Lower back pain with or without sciatica
Tension headaches
Neck and shoulder pain
Arthritis
Problems affecting the hips, pelvis, legs, ankles and feet
Sports injuries
Muscle and joint pain associated with work, driving, or pregnancy
WHAT TO EXPECT FROM EACH VISIT
During your initial visit, we will take a full medical history, discuss your symptoms and perform a full orthopedic assessment. This aims to confirm a working diagnosis, and whether Osteopathic treatment is advised or if GP referral or further diagnostic imaging is necessary.
If treatment is appropriate, we will explain our treatment plan and goals, and perform a full Osteopathic treatment. We always aim to treat on your initial visit. We will then provide you with appropriate exercises and advice to further your progression between treatments.
In follow-up sessions, we will always discuss your symptoms and progression. We will continually re-test your structure and assess your posture and health. Treatment frequency and exercise prescription is continually assessed on a visit-by-visit basis.
The title “Osteopath” is protected by Law. An Osteopath must have completed a degree course in Osteopathy, and be registered under the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) to use the title “Osteopath”.
SPORTS MASSAGE
First things first…Sports Massage is not just for sports people. Masters Osteopaths truly believes in the benefits of deep tissue, focused massage therapy to compliment your Osteopathic treatment, and help in the maintenance of your general wellbeing.
AS PART OF YOUR TREATMENT PLAN
Repetitive strain, postural stress and over exertion can overload and injure our muscles and other soft tissues, which Sports massage aims to treat through the promotion of local blood flow and reduction in tension. Paired alongside your specific Osteopathic manipulative treatment and prescribed exercise program, Sports Massage can further boost your pain relief and mobility.
IN A SPORTS SCENARIO
Sports massage can also aid in the prevention of injury when training for a specific sporting event or goal. During exercise, lactic acid and other metabolic waste products can build up in our soft tissues, causing pain and reduced mobility. Massage aims to stimulate lymphatic flow to help the body reabsorb these waste products and reduce symptoms of tissue damage.
FOR GENERAL WELLBEING
And lets not forget…massage feels amazing on our fatigued, tight, sore muscles. Psychologically massage can help us to relax and experience pain relief through the promotion of endorphin production. Endorphins are chemicals released by the brain that calm the peripheral nervous system and give us the feeling of relaxation and wellbeing.
